The Lozi people are an ethnic group primarily of western Zambia.The word Lozi means 'plain' in the Makololo language. Zambian Wooden Bowl with lid. This is a typical vessel from the Lozi ( Rotse) people of Zambia. This bowl is nicely designed and the lid is decorated with a carved and an unidentifiable form. It has an old patina with some wear on the surface and inside. This is a used wooden bowl with lid tentatively attributed to the Lozi (Rotse) who are known because their wooden carved bowls with lid. These bowls with oval shape are covered with lids decorated with various forms such as bird, fish, and elephant. The present bowl is decorated with a carved fish at the top of the lid. These bowls were used as a container for storing food or as meat platter to present or serve food. Tribal collection.
